Decorated skulls are normally known as sugar skulls which are a big part of Mexican culture, in particular the Day of the Dead celebrations which are celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. Normally made with sugar these skulls are pressed in moulds to give them their shape and then can be decorated in coloured foil, icing, beads and sometimes feathers.
